Hi Bloggers
Today I am going to show you what have been doing in literacy.
We have been working on food science, we started off by investigating mould. We cut an apple into 4 quarters and put them into 4 different containers. Then we poured different liquids into each bowl, in the first one we put vinegar, second we put salt water, third we put lemon juice and finally the control with no liquids. We ran the experiment for eleven days.
My hypothesis was that the lemon juice would make the apple rot slowly and make it turn brown and the vinegar water would turn brown on the inside and red on the outside, the salt water would do the same as the vinegar but brown on the outside. The bowl with just the apple I thought it would rot faster. Compared to the vinegar and the salt water.
The result were as follows:
1. The lemon juice looked fine until day 9 where there appeared to be two types of mould which grew very quickly
2. The salt water looked fine until day 7 which there appeared to be some mould on either end and changed little for the rest of the time.
3. The apple in the vinegar turned brown within hours and later some bubbles appeared on the surface of the apple (this may have been the start of fermentation).
4. The control was fine though slightly brown until day 5 when it began to shrink.
Here are some progress pictures

I had a lot of fun doing this even if it was in lockdown, Have you done food science yet? if you have leave a comment and tell me what you did.
